Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bags EPC contract to build the Navi Mumbai International Airport in India
Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a leading construction company in India has secured Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract to build the infrastructure for Greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport. This is the second time L&T wins the contract to develop the aviation facility within Mumbai city.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (NMIAPL), a subsidiary of GVK group announced in a press release on August 31st, 2019.
The transportation infrastructure, and buildings and factories units of L&T Construction will be responsible for the project that includes the construction of terminal passenger building (departure and arrival forecourts), airfield development works such as a 3,700m long south runway, taxiway systems and airfield ground lighting.
Other works under the contract include landside construction such as roads, multi-level car parking, utilities and support facilities.
The passenger terminal building was designed to handle 10 million passengers per annum and after the completion of this project, it will be able to handle 20 million passengers per annum.
The contract value has not been disclosed by them, while there are some sources said the estimated deal project cost could be more than Rs 60bn ($829m).
